January Reflections
The end of January means 2/3 of winter is finito (in my book at least)!
Thankful for:
- Friendships that have found their way back. Our relationship took a painful but necessary two year hiatus to grow up. It sucked and I’m glad that’s over!
- New friends.
- Knowing what I’m supposed to be doing. The feeling of knowing that you’re right where you’re supposed to...

So I pulled a muscle or something in my shoulder while spending all day typing a paper. Yep…. It hurts like hades and I can’t turn my head to the right or lift my arm! This may be my punishment for procrastination. However, I’d like to point out that I wrote 8 pretty kick-a pages in 12 hours and turned it in with three minutes to spare. That’s what’s up.
Not that I...

– Uprising - Muse
I was having one of those incredibly melodramatic moments this morning because one of my professors ripped apart my discussion post right before class. I wasn’t handling it very well but I had to suck it up. The only viable solution was to have one of those “put my...

Thoughts from a Future Teacher [9 - Interview...
Two down, one to go! I suppose it’s only fair to update on my interview with the principal this morning. I was nervous but it ended up going really well. He was nice and very articulate. The insight that I gained from his perspective was interesting to compare with the parent’s perspective… and very different. I’m hoping that the teacher’s perspective will be a nice...

Thoughts from a Future Teacher [8 - Parents]
I finally got one of my three school interviews (principal, teacher, parent) finished! It was my parent interview and I’m breathing a huge sigh of relief to have one out of the way. After three weeks I finally had to find a parent to interview on my own. I’m so thankful that I have resources in place to do that (thanks again, MB!).
I interviewed a mom of two middle school boys from...

The 1st epic adventure of 2011 goes to...
Lo & I have made our spring break plans and in 43 days we’re road-tripping it to Texas! The second week of March is never an ideal time to actually go anywhere and be warm and neither of us have any desire to join the wasted masses on the Florida panhandle so where do two art/history/adventure-loving besties go where they can be warm? Texas,...

My Apologies
You have my sincerest apologies for being a complainer and a boring blogger over the past few weeks. The stress, lack of sunshine, and the icy cold weather have been doing quite a number on my psyche.
Fortunately, I think that I am on my way to being cured. All of my favorite TV shows returned this week (Chuck, White Collar, Big Bang Theory, & The Office - Yeah!) and in the past 24 hours a...

Thoughts from a Future Teacher [7 - Focus]
This week marks the half-way point of my first semester and I’m already on the countdown to the end of February. I’ve been going non-stop since returning from Christmas break (that whole week). Honestly, I’m overwhelmed, my brain is fried, and today I had a mini-I-can’t-do-this-meltdown. I’m in the middle of a five day/five paper writing marathon that began while I...

a random recap
- It is snowing for the second day in a row and since it’s the southeast everything is closed. I had my teacher interview scheduled for yesterday and now whenever they get back to school starts benchmark testing. I’m a little perturbed about my interview deadlines now. …Que sera sera, I suppose!
- The sinister to-do-board (which is now the official name) is working out really...

Thoughts from a Future Teacher [6 - Adaptation]
My calendar says I return to school on Monday, but my to-do list suggests otherwise!
The first three weeks of my experience were CA-RAZAY. I’ve struggled with adapting and making the appropriate adjustments… and I made my share of mistakes in the first few weeks. Now that I know what my life looks like for the next 15-18 months I’m hoping to make some changes to get on track for...

At The Movies: How Do You Know
“After being cut from the USA softball team and feeling a bit past her prime, Lisa (Reese Witherspoon) finds herself evaluating her life and in the middle of a love triangle, as a corporate guy in crisis (Paul Rudd) competes with her current, baseball-playing beau (Owen Wilson).” - IMDB, How Do You Know
I went to see this a few days ago. I wanted to...

Sometimes we just need to change our perspective.
I’ve been processing that thought for the last few days. What does it mean? When does it apply?
I think that a change in perspective can apply to anything and everything. A lot of times whenever we are unhappy or struggle with something (like appearances, situations, locations, family, friends, etc.) we tend to throw ourselves a pity...
