Living in Lifetime Movies

I’m not sure why my mom’s side of the family decided to become the cast of an odious Lifetime movie, but I wish I’d been able to opt out… Anything goes as a weapon and words are the ammunition. People who are supposed to love each other are instead turned against one another. Sides have been chosen, whether consciously or not. Every person is motivated to see their “side” vindicated. And somewhere out there in the midst of the sides, the accusations, the exaggerations, the lies, and the heartache… well, somewhere out there is the truth. Time will tell if it uncovers itself, but everyone needs to put their weapons down for it to even have a chance.

My dad’s side of the family is an quickly unravelling tragedy that no one has the power to stop. Cancer sucks and it takes beautiful lives too soon. Alzheimer’s and dementia slowly steal away lives piece by piece. On top of that, there seems to be a genetic inability to communicate or even to feel much of anything at all.

Now I’m going to continue on with the things that make my life brighter while I wait for the sun to actually shine again. I encourage you to do the same. With heartfelt sincerity - E
